Reforming Sex Offenders (Part B- Home Section-Page B5- Law & Orders)

Question 1 :

How does the treatment programme of the Singapore Prison Service help the sex offenders?

It helps those criminals who keep repeating their crimes again and again. This may help them not to make their same mistakes again and instead, doing the right things and helping others in the society. This kind of programme works successfully on others except for a criminal, named Bala Kuppusamy . It has failed to work on him. He is so far the only known offender on whom the Singapore Prison Service's programme has failed to work.

Question 2 :

Do you think that sex offenders should be given second chance in the society? State your reasons.

I think that the sex offenders should be given a second chance in the society. The reason is because everyone do make mistakes and should have a chance to do the right things by helping others in the society. If they are not given a second chance, they might look down on themselves and even by others. We should at least give it a try on them and believe that they could change their bad habits. We must together help them to change over a new leaf and never make the same mistake again. Change the sex offenders to a good and useful citizen in the society. This may not only solve the problems but also solve the problems even better than before! Therefore, I believe everyone should be given a second chance to replace on what they have done the last time.
